The SLC conducted its first Post-Earthquake Reconnaissance Workshop at the 2015 EERI Annual Meeting on Friday, April 3rd in conjunction with EERI’s Learning from Earthquakes Committee. Guest speakers presented on reconnaissance and damage assessment and evaluation after an earthquake on the topics of buildings (David Ojala, Exponent), bridges (Marc Veletzos, Merrimack College), and geotechnical features (Kyle Rollins, Brigham Young University). Additionally, training was provided for EERI reconnaissance applications. A field exercise engaged participants by having them use the EERI applications and building assessment forms to evaluate damage to mocked-up structures on posters.
The attendance was quite large with fifty students and twenty industry professionals registered for the workshop!
The materials from this training session including presentation slides, handouts, and damage mock-up posters can be found here.
